Thirty Years of supporting Court Tennis

Since its founding in 1994, the USCTPF has helped to strengthen the game in the U.S. The Foundation has successfully supported the building of new courts (including Prince’s Court near Washington, D.C. – the first U.S. court built since 1923, and its replacement court at Westwood CC in Vienna VA), restoration of historic facilities (including the Boston, Newport and Philadelphia courts), and rejuvenation of under-utilized courts through new programs and operational guidance (most notably, Georgian Court in Lakewood, NJ.

In 2014, the Foundation and the USCTA launched a comprehensive program to develop and improve the state of play among amateur players of all stripes, including juniors, women and topflight players. The USCTPF has provided funding for the development of many new players, a number of whom have gone on to compete at high levels, even the World’s Championship.

Fostering junior development across the U.S., specifically in Newport through the John Lieb endowment and in Washington through the Prince Junior Fund. The Foundation has also provided support to all clubs that participate in the Player Development Program.

Providing funding for traveling teams to England and Australia for the Van Alen Cup, Clothier Cup and Bathurst Cup as well as other overseas events.

Providing funding for the maintenance of a comprehensive online handicap system (Real Tennis Online).

Supporting ancillary, non-prize money, expenses related to the U.S. Professional Singles Championship playing for the Schochet Cup through an endowed fund established by Jay Schochet.

These efforts are essential components of the Foundation’s mission to preserve and expand court tennis in the U.S. While fruitful, the programs require a significant commitment of resources from the Foundation and our donor base. The ability to continue these programs depends on the ongoing generous support of the court tennis community.
